Freescale offers $61,000 plus incentives for 2008 FTF green Design Challenge

Registration for FTF Design Challenge Europe closes June 6, 2008

AUSTIN, Texas – May 6, 2008 – The registration deadline for the 2008 Freescale Technology Forum (FTF) Design Challenge Europe is June 6, 2008. This challenge encourages innovation in environmental design and offers compelling incentives to encourage designers to “go green.”

Freescale invites the engineering community to find creative ways to use less energy, limit the environmental impact of existing products, and create new products that help improve the world we live in. Participants will create innovative, green electronic designs using a select group of solutions from the company's broad product portfolio, and will retain the intellectual property rights to their designs.

Five finalists will receive $1,000 (USD) each. The first place winner of FTF Europe and all regional FTF Design Challenges will receive $10,000, second place receives $5,000 and third place receives $2,000.

Winners of each regional FTF Design Challenge will be announced at their corresponding Freescale Technology Forum event. FTF Europe takes place October 7, 2008 in Paris, France.

Each regional first place winner, a total of five, will be invited to compete against each other for the $50,000 grand prize at the end of the year, bringing the total cash purse for the global winner to $61,000.
